The Shoot Out 24 Hour Filmmaking Festival Boulder
The Shoot Out Boulder asked filmmakers to trust their courage, imagination, and determination by making a 7-minute film in just 24 hours. The challenge and skill involved became evident with the list of required technical, material, and timing ‘rules’ for creating the films. Starting in 2004, the filmmaking festival ran for 9 years.
Before YouTube: Courage, Imagination, and Determination
The festival was started before YouTube went viral and when VHS tape entries got screened! What a ride! In that short time, we have cheered past winners going to the Oscars, Cannes, Sundance and watched 17 & under high schoolers graduate from film schools.
Filmmaking Festival Organizer
Michael M. Conti served as the executive director of The Shoot Out Boulder. He played a crucial role in organizing and overseeing the event, which asked filmmakers to trust their courage, imagination, and determination by making a 7-minute film in just 24 hours. The challenge and skill involved became evident with the list of required technical, material, and timing ‘rules’ for creating the films.
