5 Things to Ask Yourself Before Picking a Video Professional Partner

If producing videos is part of your overall strategy, one of the most important decisions you’re going to have to make is who to work with, for doing the actual heavy lifting, is picking the video professional partner. There are literally thousands of video production companies out there, and finding the perfect fit can be daunting. You could find yourself swimming with sharks, who are more interested in what you can spend budget-wise than one what you actually need done.

Your instinct may be to watch a few sample videos and make a decision, but you should take the time to mindfully consider what an ideal video partner might look like.

    Ideal video partner

While we can’t find the perfect fit for you, we can throw a life preserver to help you get in the right direction. Here are 5 simple questions to ask yourself before making your selection.

    1. Do they care about my company?

Give them a call.  Don’t depend upon email, chat or texting.  Speak in person.  You’ll get a pretty good idea within minutes how much they care about your business versus just your money.

Do they ask relevant, specific questions about your video concept?  Are they actively interested in knowing who your audience is, how you intend to reach that customer with the video, what your expectation is to determine if the video worked or not, or is the person just trying to nail down how much money you have to spend? You want to make sure that the video professional you decide to work with is going to be passionate about your project and invested in making your video a success.

    2. Do they have innovative and creative ideas?

With so many video companies out there, everything can start to look and sound the same after a while (especially among more recent companies). And if it appears “same old” to you, chances are it will look old to your customers.

Try to find a video professional partner that strives to create truly unique work and has experience in a variety of different types of work.  It will make your video more memorable and help it stand out from the pack. If you’re not sure, ask the company to verbally pitch you a few ideas first. This simple exercise will probably show you if they have the ability to come up with something special or not.    Most video professionals are not too concerned with kicking around some creative concepts if asked during a call,  but be mindful if you expect them to develop additional creative concepts with storyboards and scripts on spec to win a potential job.

    3. What are their Relationships with Existing Clients?

Nothing is more telling than relationships with existing clients.  Do you know these brands? Can they back it up with testimonials?

    4. What is the production value?

Production value is that extra special sauce that a seasoned professional can bring to a final product, it is why you are will to spend more dining out at a nice restaurant than taking the same ingredients home, to make a home cooked meal.

Ask specific questions about a video they did that you like , and find out how they added production value without adding additional costs to the customer.

    5. Do they fit my budget?

So a homeowner needs to do a remodel on their bathroom before putting their house on the market. You know you need to hire a contractor who already has the experience with this type of labor.  He is there to help you envision the bathroom based upon the budget you are willing to spend. Either way, you decide if you want nickel or copper plated faucets.   The end result when working with the right person is a new bathroom that increases the overall value of your property.  It is your budget.

But to make make money, you need to spend money. Ask what is possible.

Hiring the right video professional partner for your unique needs can be stressful.  So before you jump in,  make sure you have clearly define your goals and your budget.  Look at samples of videos you like in our portfolio and take the time to ask us about our production process. These tips will help you identify the right match even if you don’t select Michael Conti Productions.

Why Online Video Is Vital For Your Content Marketing Objectives

If you feel online video is just another over hyped, passing fad, think again.

Online video is gaining strength as a source for content marketing.

Michael Conti Productions has seen an increase in its video production services as more companies have come to see the value in having a professional do their online videos for them.  This same dramatic increase has also occurred for professional wedding photographers after an initial decrease in business as everyone got their own digital camera and started taking pictures at these one off events.  The results proved that having a single point of view is better.  The important point is that we know the subtle tricks to insure that what we capture provides the maximum benefit for your audience without being distracting from the overall message.

Take a peek at some pertinent data from Software Advice‘s B2B Demand Generation Benchmark Report. This is just one of the survey topics: Percentage of Marketers Using Each Content or Offer.

The graph below illustrates the percentage of marketing respondents that use each content or offer:

    Why Online Video Is Vital

The take-away? Most respondents prefer online video over white papers, case studies, even live demos with reps. And you should factor that into your future content marketing strategy.

Marketing automation giant Eloqua and CMO.com (Adobe’s content site providing digital marketing news and insight for senior marketing executives around the globe) also partnered with Software Advice on the research project. Read the blog post with all the details and an insightful video here.

    So, Why Video?

The web trending towards video is made obvious by much more than the example above. After all, YouTube is the number two search engine in the world. This may lead you to the conclusion that we simply don’t like to read anymore. But the video preference situation we’re witnessing is much more detailed than that. So the question you may be asking yourself (or your boss may be asking you) is: Why video?

For this, let’s reference an expert. A real Ph.D. level expert, Susan Weinschenk, Ph.D. — also known as The “Brain Lady.” As a leading speaker, author and consultant to brands like Amazon, Disney, Walmart and South By Southwest, she brings a deep understanding of the psychology of customers and why they do what they do.

She has uncovered four core, very human reasons we are drawn to video:

#1: The Fusiform Facial area makes us pay attention to faces – this is an actual brain function that hard-wires us to use the human face as a gathering point for information and believability.

#2: Voice conveys rich information – yes, the simple sound of a human voice speaking to us has an amazing way of converting information into meaningful content.

#3: Emotions are contagious – here’s a subtle but powerful aspect that we may take for granted. The body language of emotions is an appealing and we naturally love to share.

#4: Movement grabs attention – another trait that runs deep in our collective anthropological DNA is the power of peripheral motion. Since the stone age, we’ve survived by noticing things in motion – looks like we still do!

These are important details to consider when you approach doing a video in-house or seek to hire a professional that is well-versed in capturing visual and auditory signs to help your audience to connect with your message.

The Benefits of Video Marketing in 2020

If you are not enjoying the benefit of video, then you need to get a plan into action for video marketing in 2020.

    A Historical Perspective

In the late 1997,  I uploaded a few QuickTime videos that to my website.  I remember talking with a Hollywood colleague about the idea that someday we could be producing marketing videos to be accessed online;  envisioning a world where television commercials might also be found online someday.  Little did I know how quickly that occurrence would happen and reshape the world of advertising with the launch of YouTube in 2005.

Today most businesses use a variety of techniques to engage prospects including mail and email, SEO, print ads, banner ads, and online directories.

But nothing comes close to the power of online videos:

    • Internet users click a video’s “Play” button far more than they click on image ads
    • Video is far more engaging and easier than reading a block of text
    • Videos go viral, allowing you to captivate a larger audience with a single video placement
    • Videos are interactive, engaging and informative, more so than other online advertising methods
    • Learning is easier and more effective with training videos

Top Ten Benefit of Video: One video, numerous possibilities:

While I could see the possibility that videos could be seen online through a video player on a website, the world was about to get a lot bigger:

    1. Mobile Delivery is an absolute must today.
    2. Use your video for online advertising in a variety of ways. Feature your video on a banner or pre-roll video ad on YouTube and similar sides.
    3. Reuse your videos for trade shows. Have the video loop continuously and draw people in.
    4. Send a link to your video via email. In a matter of seconds, you can have everyone on your mailing list watching your video and forwarding it to others.
    5. Feature the video in your business e-newsletter. Enhance your business communications with video.  Track the viewers.
    6. Broadcast your video on TV. Run an online and TV ad campaign simultaneously to increase results, compare response rates, and strengthen your brand.  Shoot in HD!
    7. Add it to your online directory listing. Many of today’s online directories are accepting video, allowing companies to provide insight about themselves to viewers.
    8. Display it at company meetings. Start your next quarterly or company meeting showing off!
    9. Use it as a hiring tool. Promote your business to potential candidates and highlight the benefits of working for your company.
    10. Motivate your employees and customers with your video.
